Wow - the cabinets are pretty bare. I'm really not in the mood for kitteh tonight... I guess we're going out!

Bullets
No, not bullets from a gun. Just bulleted updates.
- While I have felt quite overwhelmed the last few days - I'm absolutely GIDDY today. The winds of change are upon me.
- My parents are coming in on Wednesday, I can't wait. I'm taking off of work Wednesday afternoon, Thursday and Friday. I'm really glad - I can use a few days off to hang with my folks.
- I'm definately going to Italy and Hubby is going to come to for the first part of the trip and we are going to do some traveling in Venice and Milan. Hopefully my mom won't mind flying back out to take care of the kids.
- The 5K that Prissy and I are going to do is coming up in less than 2 weeks. We've been training like crazy.
- Taekwondo was exceptionally fun tonight. I'm not sure why - except we laughed a lot and the instructors were laughing with us. I felt very powerful tonight.
- I'm back on the Weight-Watchers bandwagon. I've been off for awhile and my weight is showing it. For some reason, my mind said that because I was exercising I could eat whatever I wanted. Hmmm - just because I jog 30 minutes doesn't mean that I can get a large iced caramel coffee and a big mac from McDonalds. So, hopefully I'll drop a few pounds.
- My cats are absolutely FREAKING out. Two of them are flying around the house meowing. I have to take Jasmine in to get spayed pretty soon.
I think that's all.

Weener-mobile
You never know what you'll see in the walmart parking lot. Sorry the
picture isn't centered. It was very bright and I couldn't see the
screen.
I have a serious love/hate relationship with Walmart. I love that regular stuff that I get anywhere else is SO.MUCH.CHEAPER... I save at the very least $100 a week. That really adds up - yo. But, damn, that place is SO crowded. Today - they were out of carts. There were so many people in the store - that all the carts were gone. Dang. The place was PACKED.
I did see a dear friend there though - she warned me of a shopper in lane 3 whose child had an extremely dirty diaper - apparently, people were avoiding the dirty diaper lady and her kid because they were STINKY. On my wonderful trip, there was the woman who I was shopping near whose child-big-enough-to-know-better had a whistle. This little shit didn't stop whistling. At all... non-stop... my ears were bleeding... It was horrible... The mom asked him to stop over and over. And then just covered her ears. You could hear the damn whistle from aisles away. They were near me the entire 2 hours I was in Walmart. They even followed me out to the parking lot. I swear to Gawd - that if I had gotten closer to the kid, I would have shoved the fucking whistle down his throat with a palm-heel strike. KEY-UP!
Screw Tuesdays with Morrie - what about Sundays at Walmart?

Soccer day
goal. Prissy did not. It's a major competition now. Although bubba has
scored at every game this season. He's becoming quite the soccer star.

Undone
Today - I feel really undone.
Which - is a common feeling for me. But, today is a little bit stronger than normal. No particular reason. Just feeling a lot unbalanced with work and family.
I forgot today was crazy hair day. While I won't take total responsibility - because my kids forgot too - I still feel bad. Bubba was SO UPSET when he remembered (after we got to school this morning.) Prissy really didn't care.
This afternoon, I took Prissy to get her allergy shots. It's not terribly far, but it's not just down the street either. When we got there, they wouldn't give her her shots because she has a cough. She has a cough because she has fucking allergies - that is WHY SHE IS GETTING SHOTS! But, I held my tongue - and tried to explain it to them. They didn't care and sent us away.
Prissy had soccer practice and I was working and Bubba comes and says - "Doesn't Prissy's practice start at 5?" It was 4:57 - so she threw on all her stuff. A redeeming fact is that her soccer practice is just across the street.
On the positive side - tonight, Hubby went over to a friends house to play Rock Band. I'm sort of excited because I'm making chocolate chip cookies (from cookie dough from the pizza place) and I'm going to read - without freaking interruption tonight. I will also drink wine. Chocolate chip cookies and Chardonnay - can't get much better than that. Too bad it's already 9:30.
Tomorrow is a day of soccer and taekwondo. I have snack duty tomorrow. Ugh... We may not make it on time to Taekwondo - but I certainly hope so - because I haven't had a chance to go all week.
Oh - did I mention I'm going to Italy in 3 weeks. I should be excited, but I'm not. It's for work. I need to call the doctor to get my perscription on Xanax refilled - the only time I need relaxants is when I'm on plane trips longer than 4 hours. Just can't freaking handle it.

Office Party
Tonight starts the season for The Office. Yay! Love the Office. And today, we had an office party. It was really nice to get away from work and eat each others food. One wonderful person brought this dip that I can't stop thinking about.
It was so incredibly yummy - spicy and tangy and just full of awesomeness.
He sent me the recipe. I think I might make it this weekend. Because it was that good. Either that, or he put crack in it. Which might just be the case.
Here is the Crack-laced dip (cause if my new dealer provided me with the recipe, I figure I should be so kind to pass it on to you):
Original here: http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/JALAPENO-CHEESEBURGERS-WITH-BACON-AND-GRILLED-ONIONS-232193

Like a Good Neighbor
We moved into our house in 2000. Our neighbors on either side of us moved in a year after we arrived. Our across the street neighbors have been there since before we moved.
Saying that - we really don't know any of them. Last year when we went to Hawaii, we reached out to our across the street neighbors (who had two high school girls) to help out with our cats after our cat-sitter left us in the lurch. And we have a friendly - "Hey, HowAreYa" type of relationship.
Our other across the street neighbors - they have two kids - a boy Prissy's age and a boy Bubba's age. The mom and I were both pregnant at the same time. We both brought baby gifts to each other when our youngest sons were born. You would think that we would be the best of friends. But, we haven't really spent much time together.
When the kids went to their previous schools we didn't get home until late and we had "stuff" every night, blah blah blah. Our paths just haven't crossed. Well, Bubba and their youngest son are in the same class. And they are the bestest friends ever. I'm going to give the kid a name - I'm going to call him Montana - because he's like Joe Montana - the kid is going to be a football star someday.
Anyway, the boys have play together and gone to each other's house (which I think is SO COOL) and today Montana came over because his after-school babysitter had something going on. He's a really good kid, and the boys did their homework and then played. But, it felt like I was actually being a good neighbor. I know that sounds totally weird - but I've always had a lot of guilt about it. I'm sort of the shut-in of the neighborhood. Now, I'm actually starting to know my neighbors.
After almost 9 years.
No one said I warm up quickly.

So Tired
OMG. I'm so so so tired tonight. I'm not sure what is up. I feel like I didn't sleep at all last night.
Anyway, for your viewing pleasure, here is Dramatic Cat - I pulled it off of youtube, and it just cracks me up. It is the sister video to dramatic chipmunk.

Kitty Pictures
I decided to post some pictures tonight - just because.
I know I always appreciate some random pictures from the blogs that I read:
Jasmine is getting SO BIG! She's a sweet and pretty chillax kitten. Although, compared to Oreo's babyhood - I think anything would be considered chillax.
We went to dinner last night and had to wait a bit. I happened to have my camera with me so I snapped some photos:
And Mr. Not-happy-to-have-picture-taken:
Hubby's backyard landscaping is looking really pretty:
I think we need to get Oreo to lay off the kitten food:
Jasmine doesn't always love it when Prissy holds her but sometimes "allows" it:
Finally - the kitties still love each other and often sleep in each other's embrace:

It Is Alive!!
The website for our baton team is alive. If you are interested the production site is here: http://accelerationbaton.com I still want to add somethings to it, but I love that I can have public vs. registered users.
Soccer update - Bubba totally scored two goals today. He just took the ball and ran it around everyone and scored. Both times. It was awesome. So far this season, he has scored (or gotten credit for) a goal in every game. That's dang good. Today Prissy didn't score a goal - this is the first game she hasn't scored in. She did get kicked in the knee HARD and had to be carried off the field sobbing. That wasn't so good - but she was ok. On the upside, it was an absolutely gorgeous day - perfect for soccer. Sunny, cool - just a perfect day.
And the last thing I did was play the new game Spore this evening. It's a little bit addictive. I'm more of a blogger than a gamer - but this one sucked me in for almost an hour tonight and I'm ready to play some more. :)
But, I have blogs to read and a bed that is calling my name - we stayed up pretty late last night and then got up early for Bubba's game. So, I want to go to bed at a reasonably decent hour.

Quick Update
I'm busily at work getting ready to release our baton website into production. So, this is a super short post. I have seriously been enjoying doing some web development.
Right now - we are waiting for Chinese delivery - Kung Pao and Hot and Sour Soup. OMG - I can't wait. Plus, we're going to watch the final episode of Big Brother! YEEHAW!
I don't even have a good video to post. How sad am I tonight?

Cross Country - In Pictures
Prissy had her first cross country meet today. She did extremely well. There were a CRAZY number of kids - there were 1,500 4th, 5th and 6th graders from all over the county. Prissy placed 99th out of what we think was 150 5th grade girls. So, for not being a runner until very recently - she did great.
Anyway, here are some pictures from today:
Coach prepping the team:
Stretching:
Getting excited:
Principal there to support the team (oh, I could write a whole post on how much I love this school's principal.)
Getting ready at the starting line:
Waiting for the gun to go off:
And their off:
Almost there, at this point, she had sprinted almost a mile.
Prissy really enjoyed it and she was so proud of herself. I'm pretty proud of her too. And man is there a lot of excitement at cross country meets!

Web Development
Oh dudes -
I'm finally starting to feel better - Thank Gawd. And every night I've been working on the baton website. I really wanted to use Joomla - which is an open source content management system. But, it's not terribly intuitive. I have slogged my way through and now I feel relatively comfortable and I think I've made a pretty nice website. It's still in development, and I still have so many things I want to do - but at least I'm making some progress. I'm digging this CMS - it's so much easier than statically editing the pages. Plus - the other board members can update the website too. (if you'd like to see my sandbox, it's at http://mcvayindustries.com/joomla/.)
So - I done taught myself something. Shoot, I think that learning Joomla was actually on my things to do before I die list. WOOT! It's taken me long enough.

10 Years
This picture was taken 10 years (and a few days) ago. While, the quality is truly horrible (it's a picture of a picture) it still brings back some really nice memories.
We had a rather nontraditional wedding - we decided to have a pot luck wedding. We had been living together for quite some time and didn't need all the regular "stuff" that newlyweds need. So, instead of stuff - we asked our friends and family to help us to celebrate our wedding by bringing us their favorite potluck dish. There was SO MUCH FOOD. Oh, and the food was absolutely wonderful.
The day was very hot, but it turned cooler as the evening went on and it ended up raining after the ceremony (which was outside), but we were all dry and comfortable at the reception which was inside. You have to realize that it doesn't rain in the summer in Sacramento - so this rain was quite the surprise.
We had a DJ / singer - who was totally hitting on one of my friends. That was weird. But, he sang well and played good music.
Anyway, I was looking at posting a picture today and this is the one that caught my attention. I can't believe how much younger we both looked. Man - what two kids and working full time will do to a person. *LAUGH*

Almost forgot to Post
I almost forgot to post tonight. I'm participating in the stupid challenge of blogging for 365 days - which is why you get some horribly boring and/or stupid posts. I have not yet missed a day. But, I'm not feeling all that great tonight, hubby is traveling for business in the Ike-area and I almost forgot to post.
Bubba has been awfully sassy/back talking lately. I'm about fed up with it. I'm not sure what is up with him... But, in talking with parents of other 7 year olds - I'm hearing it's rather normal. But, Prissy never NEVER went through anything like this. I think she got all the horrible shit out when she was a toddler. And let me tell you - she's lucky to be alive today - she almost didn't make it through those years. And we're also very lucky - because she turned out to be an absolute joy (I typoed job instead of job - is there such a thing as a Freudian slip with typing?) But, holy shit was she a terror when she was toddler.
And for your enjoyment - here is a song that I really like that has been going through my head today. It's Uncle Kracker - Drift Away.

Quick Post
This is just a quick post - I'm so grateful today is over. I'm sleeping in tomorrow. Prissy and I both have a sore throat and Hubby is leaving tomorrow on a business trip.
We just returned from Chuck E Cheese's - I don't think there are many places on earth that I dislike more. It was a party for Bubba and his Taekwondo Buddy. The Taekwondo instructors showed up and it was very nice of them.
Bubba had a soccer game today and they totally and humiliatingly destroyed the other team. Bubba's team won 14 to 0. After the first 5 goals in the first quarter of the game, our coach started pulling the kids out. He was playing our 5 boys against 7 of them. We were still killing them. So, then, the coach put all but one boy in the backfield and just one forward (that means 7 of their kids against a single-solo player on our team) and we were STILL scoring. It was just embarrassing. Every boy on Bubba's team scored today. It was crazy.
Prissy's game was more evenly matched. Prissy's team won 3 to 0. Prissy scored a goal and assisted on another. It was a much more exciting game to watch.

Shots and Needles
My poor pin cushion kids. Bubba had his physical today and he had to get two vaccines. Prissy started her allergy shots - she gets THREE shots every 3 to 10 days. Yowza! Bubba had to get a finger stick to check for iron levels. He's fine. Prissy had to have her blood tested for the peanut allergy.
Man... They were just poked all over the place. I feel really bad for them.
I went to Taekwondo this evening and it is a sparring only class. It was all teenagers - mostly black belt teenagers. And they are all really good. I felt my age tonight. And I'm now pretty bruised and sore.
So, we're all bruised here at the Chalet this evening.

Is it Over Yet?
Holy SHIT! I can't wait until this week is over. I think this may be the longest week in history.
It's Thursday night right? That means I'm almost done? Please? PLEASE!!!!
No downtime at all until Sunday...
So, tomorrow - I'm working from home because my children have too many freaking appointments and shit to do tomorrow... (man, I'm saying shit alot - I must be angry.) Prissy and I will get up before the sun comes up to do our running (why the hell did I start this?) Then, I send the kids off to school and I have a TON of work to do tomorrow. Then, as soon as Prissy comes home she needs to go to get her first set of allergy shots. OUCH! But, they want her there for at least an hour. Nice. So, Hubby has to take her, because Bubba has a physical with his new doctor. After Hubby finishes at the allergist - he is going to bring her over to the pediatricians office so she can have her blood drawn - more allergy testing for the dreaded peanut.
Then, we go home and Prissy goes to soccer practice, then I go to Taekwondo - THEN I'M HAVING MULTIPLE GLASSES OF WINE!
OH, but crap, I have to get up REALLY early on Saturday because Bubba has a soccer game, then the boys (Hubby and Bubba) have haircuts, then Hubby and I have Taekwondo, THEN we go to Prissy's soccer game when it is at the time in the afternoon when hell has exploded onto the soccer field. It'll be so damn hot. THEN - we go to the other place of hell - called Chucky Cheese with Bubba's taekwondo buddy to celebrate their black belts.
Then, Sunday morning is a beautiful run with Prissy. I then have to fight the walmart crowds for groceries and then - Finally - in all it's glory I'll be able to sit down for a few minutes before I have to make dinner. Shit - I'll just have to go back to work on Monday...

Allergies ALL OVER!
Poor poor Prissy. She went to the allergist Monday afternoon. Prissy has always had allergies. She has her horrible peanut allergy and also some environmental allergies. She's very sneezy and itchy eyes - especially in the spring. She has taken Zyrtek for years and years. And it works pretty good - but not 100%.
I told the doctor that I didn't want any skin testing because the last time she had skin testing she had an anaphylactic reaction and had to be "rescued." It was horrible. However, we knew her reaction was to peanuts - so they promised not to give her any peanuts. But did want to test her for tree nuts. Apparently only 6% of people with peanut allergies also have tree nut allergies.
So, they did the skin testing - and she is pretty much allergic to everything in the air. Which we sort of knew. She is allergic to dogs. She is also allergic to tree nuts - so it's good that we stay away from all nuts. I think there may be a tree or two that she is not allergic to - oh yeah, she is allergic to dust, but not to dust mites. Go figure. In talking with the doctor, we decided to give allergy shots a try. He said they work especially well on pollen allergies - so, we'll try. He also changed her to Singulair - which I know a lot of people really like (and I will watch her very closely for depression - I know that can be a side effect.)
So, we still need to get her tested for peanuts - which we will do through a blood test and they will also test for the tree nuts - we will compare that with the skin test - to give a good indication of where we really are with peanuts.
I feel bad that she has to get allergy shots - but, I think it will be good in the long run.
We also took the kids to the dentist today - no cavities, but Bubba needs sealants and he will likely need Phase 1 braces. Prissy however looks like her braces did an awesome job and she will likely NOT need Phase 2 braces. Yay!
Now that I have bored you to tears - that is enough about the medical-ness of my children.

Taekwondo All Week Long
Tonight - the night after Bubba received his black belt - Hubby and I tested for our red belts. We both passed! Yay! I was actually a little worried today - we've spent so much time getting Bubba ready that I was afraid that I might not have done enough practice myself. But, actually, I think I did better than normal. We've had a lot of Taekwondo recently, so we were quite prepared.
So - the next black belt will be Hubby and I. We are about 6-9 months away from our belts.
Prissy has decided that she wants to run on her school's cross country team. It's an incredibly short season (I think 4 meets over the next month.) She will have to run a mile - which she can already totally do because we've been training! WE ROCK! We tried to talk her out of it - because holy christ it's yet another sport - but it's so short that it should be just fine.
Ok - I have some volunteer work to get done for Bubba's class - so I'm out!

Mama of a Black Belt
Tonight - I am the mother of a black belt. I am so incredibly and completely proud of my son. He has spent the last three years training - and worked so incredibly hard these past two months taking private lessons in preparation of his black belt testing. It's a huge deal to work for something for such a long time and achieve a goal that not everyone achieves.
However, after he was done, he said very loudly, "I CAN NOW QUIT TAEKWONDO!!!" *laugh* I guess he's done. But, he made it!
Here are a few pictures of tonights testing and black belt ceremony:
Waiting to do his form:
Getting REALLY REALLY nervous:
Doing form with taekwondo buddy and nailing the form (great backstance with square block):
Perfect leaning back and hand position for the side kick in his second form:
Weapons form with the scythe:
Self Defense (looks like his buddy got hit in the side of the head):
Getting ready for his board breaks and feeling good about being done with the forms:
Asking permission to do his board breaks - this is a pretty cool picture to look at. You can see the one board with the two guys with their back to the camera, and the other board and Bubba reflected in the mirror:
This is my absolute favorite picture of the night (and maybe of any Taekwondo picture of Bubba and maybe even my favorite picture of Bubba) Look at him yelling, his belt flying, with his foot just busting that board right in half. ROCK ON!
Beginning of the ceremony:
Bubba lighting his candle at the ceremony:
Ceremony candidates - this is the first "graduating" class of the school:
The head instructor tying Bubba's new belt on him:
My proud boy:
Picture with his Taekwondo Buddy. We have become good friends with his family. This little boy's dad is also in classes with us. We have a good time and go out to dinner when we can. The mom went to the same graduate program I went to - we were just a few semesters apart. Aren't these just such cute boys?:
Mommy and Bubba. Horrible picture of mommy - great picture of Bubba:
Bubba's super awesome instructors:
Congratulations Bubba! I know you worked really hard for this!

Pissed at CBS or Tivo or Someone!
ZOMG! I love Big Brother. Love it, love it, love it! I have watched every season of big brother. But, for whatever reason - the times have been off the last two weeks and it's not scheduled or recording at the right time. First it recorded the DNC, then the RNC - tonight it recorded the US Open. It's driving me crazy. CBS's only redeeming quality is that they are putting the episodes online. But, it's just making me nuts.
So - CUT IT OUT CBS! Or Tivo! Or whoever the hell is making the recordings all fucked up!
Signed -

First Date?
Hubby and I went on a date tonight. A real, honest to goodness, date. We were celebrating our 10 year anniversary - and while others go away for a weekend, we went away for an evening of dinner. This isn't something that we have done. But, we got dressed up, got a babysitter, put on perfume and the good pearls and went to a rather fancy restaurant (we needed reservations!)
It was absolutely wonderful food. The service was fantastic. There were no screaming and running kids (because ours were at home.) We had a great bottle of wine, appetizers, wonderful main dishes (I had a butternut squash ravioli with walnuts - omg, so good) and even dessert. Holy crap I'm stuffed.
Then, after dinner, we didn't know what to do, so we came home. Baby steps. But, now we have a babysitter!! When I got home I went to check on the kids and they were still awake (but in bed) and my son says, "Can you go out again next week?" So, the babysitter was a hit. It was a teenage girl that does taekwondo with us - her mom also goes to class with us (it's the other woman my age who I really enjoy sparring - we're about the same level.)
Anyway, we went out... It was really nice.... I'm so glad we did it! I actually feel like a grown up.

Big Lump of Unmotivated
I found this online - it is not mine - I stole it - but I do not take credit for it either. It looks like Mr. Sisson did it, or Mr. Sisson is the name of blob dude. But, I digress...
This could be my self portrait today. I feel like a big lump of blah. I should be working on the baton team's website. But, I can't get motivated for that. Even writing this blog entry feels like a task on my to-do list today. I didn't get up to run this morning (deciding instead to do it tomorrow.) I have slept horribly the last two nights and I'm just really tired.
Hubby is sick and I do not want to follow. We are celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary tomorrow, and we have a babysitter scheduled on Saturday - so I am hoping with all my might that we are both healthy enough to go. We have never had a babysitter. We were going to a fancy restaurant! And dressing up! With Nice clothes and everything! I'm also hoping that Hubby's sickness doesn't transfer to Bubba and that Bubba stays healthy for Monday's black belt testing. After Tuesday night he can get sick - he just has to stay healthy for the next week. *sigh*
So, look at the picture once again - and think that is me!

Black Belt Testing
Bubba tests for his black belt on Monday. MONDAY!!!! He has worked for almost 3 years to get to this point. He's been going in for the last couple of weeks to get some additional tutoring. And he has been working like crazy on his board breaks. If he cannot break his boards he does not get a black belt.
He has known his forms, his self defense, his weapon, and totally rocked on one board break, but the other he just couldn't get. Out of about every 40 tries he would break. That is not good. So, they changed his kick (to a kick that is actually harder) and he totally smacks right through that board. YAY BUBBA!!!
He has been saying that he wasn't going to pass. But, last night after he broke his side kick consistently he said, "I'm totally getting my black belt!" So, we are all super excited. He still has to break it, but at least he CAN break it.
After he becomes a black belt - we will have to call him Mr. Lastname. Well, with our last name not the word lastname silly. We won't be able to call him Bubba in the dojo any more. *LAUGH* And if all goes as planned - Hubby and I will test for our black belts in February or March. Bubba said today, "If I want a piece of gum I'm going to have to say 'Can I have a piece of gum Mrs. Lastname'" and then just cracked up.

No computer access
Hubby has an online fantasy football draft tonight. So no computer
access for me tonight. That's alright - I'm not THAT addicted to the
computer. Especially when I have my iPhone.
I need to tell all you internets about Bubba's upcoming black belt
testing. But I'm going to wait until tomorrow - because it is pretty
cool.

Having Neighbors ROCKS!
We have been living in our house for over 8 and a half years. We don't really know our neighbors. Our across the street neighbors take care of our kitties and they are very nice. But, we don't have the type of relationship where we hang out and talk. With the kids going to the local public school - I'm meeting all sorts of my neighbors. It also helps that we are around a lot more.
Bubba has a friend! This in by itself is a huge and giant deal. He has trouble making new friends and especially making NICE friends. But, he has a friend - and the best part? His friend lives across the street! Well, catty-corner really. But, still. On Friday, his friend came over and asked him to come over and play. Then, yesterday, Bubba asked for him to come over to our house, and then today, Bubba went over there. It's like a real friend. We were pregnant at the same time!
But, it was funny our neighbor's older son, who is Prissy's age, said he didn't see a moving truck. And she had to explain to him that we've been here all the time. So, it's pretty cool.
And tomorrow, Prissy is going over to her friends house too! (although, it's not across the street, we have to drive to this one. )
It just sort of makes me all warm and fuzzy inside. Although, now, that we're all friends and stuff - it means I feel like I need to take better care of the lawn. I can't be THE neighbors with a bad lawn anymore. *sniff* and we got rid of our lawn guy when we got our pool. So, I was out there for hours today trying to tame the beast. Ugh... But, on the positive side: yardwork is an awesome workout.
